Welcome to Fifties House. After moving from Austin to Houston, Texas in January of 2005, I finally acquired a long-desired “Fifties House”, built in 1957. This weblog will chronicle our efforts to turn the house into a great example of “retro modern” living.

    Hello!
    Just found your blog tonight. My hubby and I live in a 1950 house in Austin.

    Your house is so lucky to have you and your family to love and appreciate it’s original details!

    It just warms my heart to find other people who love old houses…
