Welcome to Fifties House.

My wife and I relocated from Austin, Texas to Houston, Texas in July of 2005, and have finally acquired our dream home – a “Fifties House”. This one was built in 1957.

The moving truck is gone, and we’ve settled in. Most everything is unpacked.

This weblog will chronicle our modest, affordable efforts to turn the house into an example of “retro modern” living.

    Hello!
    Just found your blog tonight. My hubby and I live in a 1950 house in Austin.

    Your house is so lucky to have you and your family to love and appreciate it’s original details!

    It just warms my heart to find other people who love old houses…
